Como Townhouses

A subdivision of a block into two contemporary townhouses, each with an abundance of space.

This project involved subdividing an existing corner lot for the development of two executive townhouses. These two-storey, contemporary homes have instant street appeal with a combination of facebrick and render on the ground floor, and dark grey Colorbond cladding on the first floor.

Client priorities

Inside on the ground floor, residents have a double garage, open plan kitchen with scullery, and a living and dining area that opens onto northern outdoor courtyards. There is a separate laundry and powder room, as well as a master bedroom, walk in robe, and ensuite.

Upstairs, there is a second master bedroom with walk in robe and ensuite.


Two additional bedrooms, a study, bathroom, powder room, and an additional living area that opens onto a balcony were also included.

The development provides living areas and courtyards well away from each other and the street to allow for privacy from the public and between occupants.

Sustainable Features

R4.0 insulation batts to the ceiling and walls of the upper storey ensures that little energy will be needed to keep indoor temperatures comfortable.

The first floor and walls will be prefabricated by Offsite, which will be more time efficient and result in less material waste.


The upper floor will have a Proclima building wrap to reduce air leakage, with double glazed Kommerling windows by Climate Frame. The position of the windows were strategically designed for optimal airflow throughout the house, using the Bernoulli Principle to increase natural ventilation and cool the house in summer.
