The Mount Lawley Residence project begun as a conversion from a 1970’s Italian house into a reinterpreted mid-century modern style family home. The original house was full of character – featuring opulent textured wallpapers, floral carpets, typical 70s tiles and an impressive range of feature light fittings.
The roof had to be removed and replaced, now with the addition of skylights to help with getting natural light to the heart of the house.
The semi-basement level of the house will keep the below ground garage, but will transform the adjacent room area into a guest room with bathroom/laundry, and a children’s play room.
Upstairs we have seen the removal of some internal walls to open up the house for a brighter open plan living style. The back laundry and bathroom have been demolished to expand the outdoor living area which will back on to an above ground pool and feature an outdoor bbq and food prep area. There will be the addition of an ensuite to the master bedroom. All windows have been updated and some enlarged to let more light into the house. The floor has been finished in polished concrete. All finishes and fixtures have been updated to reflect a more contemporary style.
This project is currently under construction, works remaining include the basement level garage, playroom and guest suite, the master bedroom ensuite and further works to the front facade of the house, the alfresco and pool area to the rear and landscaping.
